About Amber
What is Amber?
A baby tracker for feeds, sleep and nappies, built to be used with one free hand: in a tap, by voice, or from your watch. Everyone in your family sees the same record.
Which phones and watches does it run on?
iPhone and Android phones, with apps for Apple Watch and Wear OS. Amber is in testing now; the watch apps are coming before launch.
How much does it cost?
Amber is currently free. If that changes, we will tell you in advance, and you won’t be charged without agreeing.
Is Amber medical advice?
No. Amber records what you log and does not give medical advice. If you are worried about your baby, talk to your doctor, midwife or health visitor. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Voice and watches
Does Amber listen to me?
No. Amber doesn’t use your microphone and never asks to. Your phone’s assistant hears you, and Amber only receives the command.
What can I say?
In the iPhone test builds today: “Hey Siri, log a nappy in Amber.” Feeds, sides and sleep by voice, on iPhone and Android, are coming before launch. The guide lists the commands.
What if I have twins and don’t say which baby?
Amber asks “Which baby?” and waits for your answer. It never guesses.
What will the watch do?
It’s a remote for what you do most: start and stop a feed, switch sides, start and stop a sleep, and log a nappy, each with one tap, with the running timer on your wrist.
Using Amber
Does it work without a signal?
Yes. Amber saves every entry on your phone first and syncs when it can, so nothing you log is lost.
Can my partner see the same record?
Yes. Everyone in your family sees the same record on their own phone. Inviting a partner or carer from the app is coming soon.
Will Amber stop a feed if I forget?
No. A feed or a sleep runs until you stop it. Amber never ends one for you, however long it has been going.
How do I delete a record or a baby?
In the app, open the record or the baby and choose Delete. You can undo deleting a record for 10 seconds, and restore a baby from Recently deleted for 30 days. Deleted items are erased from our servers 30 days later.
I didn’t get my sign-in email.
Check your spam folder. The email comes from Amber and the link works for 15 minutes; you can also type the 6-digit code from the email into the app.
Your data
Where is my family’s data stored?
In the European Union, in Amsterdam. Only your family can see your family’s records. See our privacy policy.
How do I delete my account, or get a copy of my data?
Email us from the address you sign in with, and we will do it within one month. Doing this from inside the app is coming soon. See our privacy policy.
Does the app have ads or analytics?
No. The Amber apps contain no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools.
